  • Overview

    The Vice President of Quality Assurance and Product Development serves as a member of the company’s Senior Leadership Team and is involved in the strategic and technical leadership of the company. The desired candidate will have a strong knowledge of the personal care, hygiene, non-wovens or related material technologies. Prior ISO or regulatory experience related to the above industries is highly preferred. They develop and drive the execution of a corporate quality assurance program that captures both current product and new product developments. They work collaboratively across departments to ensure that QA objectives are aligned with the company’s organizational and regulatory objectives and consistent with the corporate strategy. They own R&D, technical support, and process improvements to achieve organizational objectives.

    Responsibilities

    Senior Management

    • Collaborate with other senior leaders and business unit managers to develop and implement the corporate 5-year and 1-year strategies, including budgeting, hiring, and communications.
    • Support the identification of consumer and market insights that shape technological developments to provide consumer valued differentiation.
    • Support HR to attract, recruit, mentor, train, and retain members of your team.

    Quality Assurance

    • Own the companywide quality assurance program that includes, among other items, a Quality Management System for managing documents and data, a system to ensure that product specification targets are consistently met and deviations from standard result in corrective actions, and measurement metrics are regularly updated to meet industry specs and product use requirements.
    • Lead the QA and R&D teams to ensure appropriate levels of accountability for decision making, accurate use of qualitative and quantitative data in analysis, and clear communication to other functional areas within the organization.
    • Engage with external vendors to learn best practices in measurement and quality oversight, while holding them to conformance of their quality specifications.
    • Support raw material cost saving and sustainability projects.

    Product Research and Development

    • Manage the R&D stage gate process to ensure an active flow of new initiatives to support growth from inception to launch. Ensure customer, consumer, regulatory, and quality objectives are met while mitigating risk to the organization.
    • Track and monitor competitive IP filings to report on industry design trends and impact on PBE platforms.
    • Leverage vendor community for co-product development opportunities.
    • Collaborate with the VP of Marketing to manage product development from an operational perspective, which includes the development and maintenance of product specifications, achievement of quality standards for existing products, and the development of a roadmap for innovation and improvements for future products and materials.
    • Develop and execute strategies on design, process, and material development to achieve both short and long-term innovation goals that meet profit objectives and provide sustainable quality ratings.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Statistics, or Engineering required; Master’s Degree preferred
    • 8-12 years of experience in manufacturing with a mix of operations, quality, and R&D background
    • Experience in the absorbent hygiene industry or related industry a plus
    • A strategic thought leader with a strong business acumen that can leverage technology and insights to deliver sustainable business growth across multiple product platforms and categories in moisture management
    • Strong relationship and negotiation skills for interacting with internal partners, suppliers, industry experts to support and drive development initiatives
