• 3rd Shift Line Operator

  • Overview

    The purpose of this position is to oversee the production of absorbent products made on the non-diaper manufacturing lines.


    Skills and Responsibilities:

    Job Specific

    • At the start of every shift, conduct 5S and production audits of the previous shift, to ensure cleanliness, proper setting adjustments, and better understand machine issues and production requirements for the upcoming shift.
    • Working with production leadership and support teams, Interpret orders to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
    • Working with production leadership and support teams, Set, or direct line team to set stops, guides, speeds, pressures, etc. as indicated by the set-up and run procedures.
    • Make daily job assignments for line team.
    • Assume responsibility for quality and quantity of product manufactured.
    • Monitor machine operation to prevent work piece defects or machine malfunctions.
    • Measure work piece dimensions to determine accuracy of operation.
    • Conduct in-process inspections of machinery, equipment, raw materials, and team members’ contributions to daily goals.
    • Perform minor machine maintenance (oiling, cleaning dies, and replacing minor parts).
    • Work in conjunction with maintenance and production leadership to prioritize planned maintenance, reduce unplanned maintenance, and prepare for preventative maintenance to ensure efficiency of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) efforts.
    • Assist with changeover and line-out for each new run.
    • Record, or direct the recording of, production and downtime data and machine operating data as needed.
    • Must possess troubleshooting skills; define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; be a problem solver.
    • Adheres to company safety policies, immediately report violations to Safety and/or management.
    • Must use all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for this position as indicated on the Job Assessment for PPE form.
    • Coordinate line team in a safe and efficient operation.
    • Ability and willingness to train other associates; train team members in various aspects of the job.
    • Insure team members have necessary tools and training to perform jobs efficiently.
    • Communicate team needs and concerns to management.
    • Read and interpret documents (safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions and procedure manuals).
    • Fill out routine reports and communicate effectively.
    • Adheres to all company policies and guidelines
    • Be Dependable- be on time every day and do as requested
    • Perform any duties that may be assigned to position.

    • Ability and commitment to communicate effectively to the line team, across departments and to management on a one-to-one or group basis to achieve desired results.
    • Basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide, units of measurement, whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals).
    • Ability to properly use power and hand tools
    • Minimum of 90 days in current position is preferred (internal candidates)
    • Must be below 2nd written warning discipline level for the most recent six-month period (internal candidates)

    Physical Demands

    • Must be able to occasionally stand, walk, sit; Use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; Reach with hands and arms; Climb or balance; and taste or smell.
    • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision.
