Overview

The purpose of this position is to assist in the management of the Quality Assurance Lab staff and activities on all shifts.  Help lead quality efforts through clearly defined procedures, product testing and measurement systems, good lab practices, and maintenance of the quality management system.  Oversee the activities of QA Specialists and QA Technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Manager of QA & Regulatory Compliance with providing leadership and guidance to the QA Lab staff in the areas of product testing, measurement systems, data analysis, effective reporting of results, efficiency improvements in QA and Lab processes, and product quality issues and concerns.
  • Manage the Quality Specialists and Quality Technicians across three shifts. This includes scheduling, training and development, coaching, performance reviews and improvement, discipline, recruiting, etc.  Willing to occasionally flex schedule to meet with associates on all shifts.
  • Supervise product inspection and testing activities to ensure technical integrity for manufactured and purchased products.
  • Facilitate and collaborate with other departments in the investigation, analysis, documentation and recommendation of corrective actions concerning product complaints and nonconformances.
  • Complete data analysis and prepare reports as needed. Apply quality management tools and approaches to analytical and reporting processes.
  • Train Production personnel on quality-related procedures and work instructions.
  • Collaborate with other associates (i.e. Quality Engineers, Production, R&D, Engineering, etc.) to identify opportunities for improvement, provide meaningful data and reports, and effectively display information collected.
  • Attend daily/weekly production meetings, supplying quality data, information and support.
  • Ensure timely communication of QA holds, nonconformances, deviations, and quality issues.
  • Perform internal audits of the quality system.
  • Oversee the calibration process.
  • Assist in the implementation of quality management system software.
  • Assist with document control activities related to the creation and maintenance of quality system documentation such as standard operating procedures, work instructions, product specifications, forms, etc.
  • Assist in the integration of Quality Assurance departmental tasks between the Dunbridge and Bowling Green facilities.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.

Qualifications

  • Associates’ Degree in a related field required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in a lead role over laboratory QA and/or manufacturing processes/projects and team members required.  Previous QA supervisory experience preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Strong understanding of good laboratory practices and quality management tools
  • Prior experience working in a formal quality management system (i.e. ISO 9001) and QMS software
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good investigative and problem solving skills, with excellent attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • ASQ Certification preferred
